Witnessing the glorious history of Balod - Ancient fort .......!
Balod city is situated in the bank of the Tadula river. In 2012 Balod is separated from Durg district and now it is a new district of Chhattisgarh.
Balod is my favorite place. In Balod, along with historical and scenic spots, there is also an unparalleled confluence of the folk culture of Chhattisgarh. Like the clean water of the Tandula reservoir, the people of Balod are also very clean and friendly with nature.
Balod is my in laws place so I am gradually becoming acquainted with every historical and scenic spot here.
The history of Balod has also been quite glorious. Here was the rule of the kalchuri rulers in ancient times. In the subsequent years, there has been a rule of the local Gond rulers too. There are many temples and remains of the fort built in the era of Gond kings in Balod.
The remains of ancient fort are still in Budhapara. Here the fort of 20 feet of high fortification in old age is still safe. The root of the banyan tree has kept the entrance of fort. In fact, the trees also carry the obligation to save the existence of our historical heritage with our existence.
On the front of the entrance, the statue of Lord Ganesha is printed on the upper side, which is the conjecture that the dynasty would have certainly been pursuing Ganpatya-dharma.
There must have been a very large wooden door in the entrance, as the possession of the stone has been made on both sides. These occupiers used to be used for the door. Today the banyan root is found hanging in it.
The wall of the fort is made of stone blocks. The snakes have made their residence in the entrance. Where ever was Raj Niwas or fort, in today there is a huge pond called Budha Talaab.
The local people, giving information about the fort, say that there were 153 wells in the old pond near the fort. Six secret entrances were also built in the fort. Which the king used for himself.
A worshiper's statue is kept near the entrance. On a distance, the statue of the warriors are on the fort wall with sword and shield.
In the testimony of Balod's glorious history, the remains are now facing the neglect . There has been no concrete work in the direction of their protection till date. It is very important to keep them safe at the local level. Also, it should be promoted by adding in tourism map.
Balod is located 60 kilometers from Durg and a distance of 100 km from Raipur. Balod can be easily reached through both the road and the rail route.
